Debbie’s travels to Germany

guten Morgen,

While I was still teaching in Colorado, my husband and I had an opportunity that we just couldn’t turn down. We traveled with a group of high school students and their teacher on a trip to southern Germany through the GAPP program (German American Partnership Program). Our sister school was located in Weinstadt, Germany. Weinstadt is a town in the Rems-Murr district (beautiful wine country), in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located in the Rems Valley approximately 15 km east of Stuttgart. We had never been to Germany before, but my husband’s paternal and maternal ancestors both arrived to America from Germany, thus our last name of Kindschuh (which means child’s shoe in German). We were both excited to join the group and extend our time there to take on additional ventures. We have made good friends there and several years later Randy and I returned to Germany for a hiking trip to the Northern Alps which used to be a part of southern Germany (I’ll save that for my next blog – be sure to tune in!!)

Instead of uploading all of the photos that I wanted to share in this blog, I instead made an 8 minute movie that shows our adventures in the Rems-Murr wine district and the Black Forest area of Germany, the Lake Constance area that borders Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, a quick trip to Switzerland, and another trip to Paris. I just love traveling to Europe because of the short distance between countries. Please enjoy my movie and feel free to stop it to read my descriptions.
